The members of the Atlanta Metro Lions Club celebrated its 25th Anniversary on Friday, February 17, 2017 at the Atlanta Renaissance Concourse Hotel in grand style. It was a black tie affair with an evening of dancing. The celebration began with proclamations from the City of Atlanta from City Council President Caezar Mitchell, City Councilman and Atlanta Metro charter member C.T. Martin and Georgia State Senator Vincent Fort. February 17th has been designated “Atlanta Metro Lions Club Day” in the city of Atlanta. District Governor Leslie Miller inducted in our newest member, Lion Gloria Hayes. Lion Pauline Finch was presented with a Progressive Melvin Jones Fellowship by the club on behalf of her serving as club president for the 2016-2017 Lions year. After several other presentations and a delicious banquet, the dancing began. There were members from the Jasper Lions Club, Griffin Lions Club, East Cobb Lions Club and Alpharetta Lions Club that celebrated with us. We thank all of our fellow Lions and friends who came out and celebrated with us. Our theme was, “Honor the Past; Celebrate the Present; Embrace the Future.” We honored the past in giving homage to our founders and past Lions; we celebrated the present with our anniversary; and, we are embracing the future by committing ourselves to full service in our community and the world.
